Anyone who know how to play a VIOLIN? Help on scales please.?

Hi.. I’ve been playing the violin for only a few years, but I’m having trouble with playing scales. We have to play a D scale in two octaves and C scale in two octaves. Obviously, I have to shift into third position. My only problem is where in the scale do I shift, and to what finger? (sorry if this sounds really easy, but I’m new to all the shifting..)

In both cases, I would shift up into third position when you play D on the A-string. Basically, instead of playing it with the third finger, play it with the first finger. However, if your teacher has given you a fingering to use that is different, I suggest using your teacher’s fingering. As a violin teacher, I sometimes get a little neurotic whenever somebody changes fingerings on me.
