I amd 27 and I want to start a violin lesson, how long would it take to be able to play Paganini Caprice 24?
I have had 10 years of piano lesson so I hope it will be easier for me to learn violin than someone with no music background!
If you learned violin from the very start, it would take you at least 4 years to get there.
But since you have background music with piano. It would probably be easier for you to read the music… Yeah still 4 years.
Why? Because you still have to learn how to properly hold the violin, the bow, change hand positions, different bowing techniques, vibrato, faster finger movements, and learn how to do dynamics with the violin. There’s probably more I could list off.
But the main thing is, if you want to play it good, then you start from the beginning. If you wanna just start learning this song, be my guest. What I would recommend is start learning the basics, like vibrato, dynamics, finger movement, ect.. then start learning easy songs, then get harder songs, and more challenging ones. Until you get to the level of Paganini Caprice 24. Which is expert level.. so.. good luck.
