Violin in need of a cleaning?
I dont have money to buy a $ 12 kit from the music store-Im 13 and have to pay for all that.So can I use a regular cotton t-shirt to get rosin dust and fingerprints on my violin? Im playing a concert on Tuesday and need it to have a good shine.Also-what can I do to get sticky stuff off, and things out of your neck? If I dont get any good ideas, I'm gonna use the lift and a thirt. Please help! Thanks, Keri, I thought Lemon put it in wood furniture polish. And a cotton t-shirt.I need a good shine
Just polish with a clean cloth will be fine, just to get the dust off. Polishing a violin will not make it sound any better or worse, it just helps the look. And rub with a clean cloth a little harder on the neck and the sticky stuff will come out with any cleaner or oil. If you have any scratches, take a little bit of walnut (interior meat, no idea:) and rub a little bit at the bottom. This will not fix the scratch, but it will make it look like a much older bottom and less visible. I would avoid the Pledge, even if it is a nice idea. Violins' finish is a little picky themselves and you do not want to dissolve varnish.
