How do I play an artificial harmonic on the violin?

I have a piece of music that requires artificial harmonics, which I do not know, the first is E flat (as in the flat of e string); it stopped note is a flat (a on g string) and I have no idea where to put my fourth finger noises e flat harmonic. The second is f natural (the f on E string), the stopped note is b flat (again on g string) and again I have no idea what to do with my fourth finger. The first exercise is tomorrow and I really do not want to look like an idiot as the rest of them have been rehearsing for about a month already!

what you have written is quite confusing … but for example if they stopped note is the first finger on the g string (sounding the note 'A', a tone G), so to create an artificial harmonic you put your 4th finger very lightly on the string (in its normal position as if you play a normal 4 e Pier or "D" note on the G string) while keeping the first finger hard down. you might have to change position slightly until you hear the harmonic tone. hope it makes sense! …. oh and i forgot the importnant part! use this position solid pressed an e finger and light 4 e Pier, and as long as you keep your hand in the same position you can slide up the string to make note an artificial harmonic.

Massenet, Meditation de Thais (from the opera Thais)
