I would like to find out the value of a violin.?
The label on one side says "AR Seidel Mittenwald ÖBB Handmade copy of Antonius Stradivarius 1984 West Germany "The other label says Glæsel Shop Adjusted Cleveland OH This instrument adapted BUT specifications Reg # 5818" and the other side of it says "String Instrument Service Model 4131 E Date 6 / 84th I want to know the original value and the approximate sales value. ie. how much should I pay for a used. thanks edited to add is a 4 / 4 size
To get a good answer, you must have the instrument evaluated by an expert. Without knowing anything about the condition it's really hard to say. You could call the shop on the second label and see if they know anything about the instrument. Quite frankly, worth a fair market value will probably not original be different to your average violin. How much you pay for a violin, used or new, entirely depends on your level of experience, your purpose for playing (just learn vs concert violinist) and your budget. You can find a decent violins for about $ 500, but a really nice you want to run you at least closer to $ 1000 and up from there.
