Why has my violin bow break?

I am a violin player, rookie, and played a pretty high sul ponte upbow when the leader of the arc (the little opposite where you keep it where bow strings are attacked by bow again) just snapped clean in half. Is it bad craftsmanship in the bow, or my fault – I've only owned this violin for 3 days and have looked after well bow strings de-clamped after playing, and good rosined. Humidity and temperature fluctuations have also been minimal. The violin itself is a Stentor Conservatoire and the bow is described as: Good full mounted wood bow with ebony seeds and natural white horsehair. Thanks for all answers

your arc perhaps have been too tight when you played
