Rothenburg Violin Quality?

hi…i was wondering if i should buy a violin that is a copy of A.Stradisvari’s violin…the maker is Rothenburg..i was wondering if this violin quality is any good because it is not very well known..and there arent many sites about it..so i wanted to hear reviews from people who have used this brand violin before.

In my research regarding the same question, I have come to the conclusion that the Rothenburg is just another Chinese factory-made beginner quality violin, regardless of how it’s advertised. If I were to need 5,000 violins, I could contract with a Chinese mfg and have them made and delivered to me for less than $12.00 apiece. Cheaper if I want 10,000. Any Chinese violin factory will be glad to stick any label I desire in them and I can call them anything I want. I could call them “SuperStrads” or “Goldfarb’s” or even “Antonio Guiseppe 1683’s ” , and sell them on Ebay and advertise a suggested retail price of $45,000. The greater majority of the $150 or less Ebay violins are from China and are student grade. If you’re just learning, then it’s no big deal, since you will eventually graduate to a better one anyway. Make sure you get one from a dealer that will allow a return if it’s just absolutely terrible– even though you get stuck with shipping it back. Shipping should run no more than $20.00 in the US. I have one and it’s fine for a beginner – it plays all the notes it’s supposed to, and has acceptable volume and tone.
I have heard much better, and when I get better, I’ll upgrade to something in the $300-400 range. I paid less than $100 for the Rothenburg, delivered.
Let me add, however, that some Chinese factories are making high quality professional instruments, but of course, the chances of those being sold on Ebay for the price of a Rothenburg is just not very realistic.
Good Luck
