Does a NYSSMA judge add in extra points at times?
I just got my nyssma back today and i got a 100. It is wierd because the judge marked on my paper some mistakes that I made but she did not take off any points. Has anyone else had this happen or know why it happened? By the way this is violin level 6 not all state.
I am a NYSSMA judge. Often, we will hear something about which we wish to comment, but it does not detract from your performance to the extent that we deduct any points whatsoever. This happens, no matter WHAT the score. The other way around – if we put any minuses, we MUST tell in the paragraph why we deducted.
There were two HUGE festivals this past weekend – Kingston and Wappingers – were you at either of these? I know that there must have been others around the state ( we only use 11 weekends to hear all those kids!) but over near the Hudson, these were the huge ones.
Congrats on your achievement. If you did a non As Level 6, and it is because you are not old enough yet to do the AS, then I wish you luck for next year! This score will probably get you into your All-County and Area, though! GOOD JOB!!!!
