The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams?
Many of us on this forum are very familiar with R.V.W.’s romance for solo violin and orchestra. The work was inspired by a british poet’s poem about a lark. Having read and listened to the poem and piece, I am curious as to how others interpret it. Go on YouTube and find a quiet place to listen to Hilary Hahn’s version of it. What do you see in your mind when you listen to the work? I also encourage you to read the poem and then listen to the work again. Does this affect your interpretation?
Best,
Whipp
