Old violin strings used to be made of gut…well, what is gut?
Here, kitty, kitty, kitty – well, sheep guy was used far more often that catgut. I had a roommate once who had a Baroque Violin on loan, and it had to have gut strings. A guy who ran traplines would make strings, and ship them up to her. And the string bass in played in HS had 2 gut strings.
