Has all electric violins require batteries?
Hello, I'm considering buying an electric violin, but I do not exactly know everything about them, as this is my first time buying one. I am thinking of getting a Yamaha EV-204, but I dislike the idea of using a battery, because you always use the money to replace it. I heard on a website that you can bypass the preamp if your battery dies while you perform, but I will be able to get the same amount of sound, if I always played like that? and there are other good electric violin that does not require a batt? Thank you. I see what you are saying. I play in a band and Suppy the 9volt but I do not really like to use batteries. It reminds me of dropping cash into and endless hole. Familiar one U.S. dollar here one U.S. dollar there adds up after awhile.
Anything that uses an active pickup and / or an onboard preamp would require a battery. And no, if you skip the preamp you will not get the same sound, unless you then add an external preamp (which not necessarily be driven battery). Frankly, I find it strange that you're willing to shell out the relatively large amount of cash to buy an electric violin, but did not want to pay the relatively minimal amount of money for the batteries to ensure that it functions correctly. It's like saying "I 'm going to by a $ 2500 Gibson guitar, but I do not want to pay $ 1 for a couple of picks to play it.
