Where's arrival Point of Audio Cables Cable Asylum
Where's arrival Point of Audio Cables Cable Asylum

Majority of the audiophiles are agreed that one of the most critical factors in a hi-end system is the connection cables. There is no doubt about it. Different cables provide different testing and enjoyment. A good audio cable in a system may sound not good in another scheme or a good sounding cable might not sound good if one of the units are replaced. Good is also relative to each person, that's why I think that it is not is possible to pretend one cable smarter then the other if both are good cables.
As a person who changed so many lines, I would like to share my own assessments with others. My goal is not to offend anyone or break any hearts, but humbly contribute to the madness of cable industry, contributing to awareness and prevent buyers to be abused.
Some cable manufacturers use thinner wires to remove the skin effect. Some use thicker them to remove the DC resistance. Some prefer silver because of the open and full sound, some are silver sounding thin, un-natural and they use pure copper to achieve body. Some use platinum, coal and other things, some combining them or alloys them. Some manufacturers emphasis on foreclosure, some are opposed to shielding, but uses braided design. Some use tape, some use litz (various independent insulated wire). Almost all pretend their design as the best in the world.
Above list can be enlarged. This situation at least for me is the clear evidence that there is no compromise on cables from the Engineering College and the theory standpoint.
After me, cables, especially interconnect cables are the most degenerate and misleading part of audio industry. The largest revenue ratio in audiophile words generated by the cable industry. An amplifier, which consists of various elements, labor, technology, design, (Consists of good silver cables, too) can be bought for 5.000? but a bad connection cable costs 2.000? or more. Most of the brands are imitating another. They offer various colors, thickness and looks and pretend to be the best in the world to list in their price categories. I found 137 different interconnect manufacturers (see list below). Unfortunately, human nature of "how expensive or how big, the better" faith, guides one to mislead. Such faith motivates the first sale, and supporters continue believed that "if other buyers are idiots!"
One thing should be considered that I would never imply such cables are not bad sound, actually they are mostly the good ones. The problem is a 1% better sounding cable sold at 1000% the price of the other. After the promotion and acceptance of a very reputable cable, another one comes to market itself by the same company to claim to be better and the price is 3 times more. Price increase in the cable industry is geometrically by the crazy Multiples.
Last year, Stereophile made feature with Caren Sumner, president of Transparent Cable. I picked up below sentence;
"Up to last years, the thickest cables and the largest boxes in the cable was on demand. If the cable was thicker or boxes on the cable became larger, the perception was such cables should sound better. So they sold in greater quantities. But today the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) is more involved in it, and wives do not like to see bigger and bigger things corrupting decoration. As a matter of fact, we tend to produce thinner cables and smaller boxes in the future. "
At least one such sentence clearly gives the leak, the product is not thicker or larger because of technical aspects, but because of marketing techniques.
I was curious one day to break the box in my M.. T connects to look inside. There was a very simple coil occupied only 1 / 10 of the box. I also broke the same brand power cord's box and realized only two ferrite rings sold for 50 cents each at the electronics store. Another story is that, a cable manufacturer is actively shielded cables. If you break the fixed protected shielding device you see a resistor and a capacitor, which can be purchased for $ 1. The price you pay for this device is 420 USD. You might think it is proprietary or invention, but it is no. The concept was built on the design of Pierre Lourne DC Polarised Shielding Technology and used in professional audio industry for years.
According to me, listened a cable should be enough, alone, before you buy. If the critical listening is done with other people will Physiology factor act and people would tend to choose the most reputable one. If the difference is subtle, should it be again. Before coming to completion, other audiophiles will be convened to critically blind test. Cables shall tested without knowing which one is related. If the blind test is completed, each party should make careful and realistic observations. If they do not have a clear tendency would not it be logical to buy that cable.
A friend brought me a well known digital reference cable that is sold around $ 1500. My cable was also a reference cable but reasonably priced (Illuminations D-60). We were three people and listened both cables correctly. The other two immediately noticed that the second cable was much better. It did not commit the same effect on me. Mid sounds, vowels became softer and more natural, but the bass was so slow and muddy. The energy and slam on the treble was gone. So it was and exchange, but no more. I had a feeling that the physiology factor was in mission. I wanted to do blind tests. My goal was not to degrade others, but just to find the answer why I did not hear the same thing with them. We did a blind test. Eventually both of them were decided and agreed on the D-60. The discussion was over.
? Why they tended to choose the most expensive or recognized one!
? Forget about it was worse, believing that they are the same, therefore the second cable costs 10 times it has not clearly Bit the other.
? Can my system was not enough to stimulate reveal that cable, but if so, would I pay $ 1500 needlessly as agreed by my friends.
Such cable manufacturers generally target the people who have no problem with money. Such people are basically located in New York, Far East, Hong Kong, Japan and such places.
Manufacturers also follow up, sales volumes expensive electronics and penetrate their cables accordingly. They assume that "a person using $ 350.000 for an amplifier will never use a cable on $ 500 "
My thoughts are not to offend cable manufacturers, if there is a demand someone has to deliver without a doubt.
I wanted to design an interconnection cable to my own curiosity. I'm not an electronic one. I used my all theoretical knowledge as a hobby and did a DIY interconnect cable. I let my cable is in the same class with reference cables sold up to $ 1500. It will cost you about $ 50 plus plug that is all. Difficult to do but it is worth. Hearing is believing. I shared with you the whole step. Give it a chance DiyE.htm. You must use the best available connectors and silver solder, but not in the budget them. The cable cost me $ 200 along with Home Grown Audio's LOK RCA connectors or WBT Top Of the lines.
How come that cable worked extremely well for me better than the others! I had no experience, no manufacturing, no technology, research and development, but it works. May be the answer is hidden in a different location, the second cable producers use the same method, design, listen, whose works, requirements and sell
